    of health care the year my husband was out of work (he had lost his job due to health issues; his union fought and got him and several others in the same boat rehired). Fortunately we had money in the bank to cover expenses (from my mom's estate after she passed), and we discovered that we could get discounts on many of our prescription medications through our AAA membership, but it was still pretty much bare minimum till we got re-covered.

    In fact, today I'm going to see if we'll be getting a bit more money each month; we've been paying out of pocket for my health insurance through my husband's group plan (he retired in 2011, and his employer pays his insurance less a $35/month copay) and supposedly they'll now pay for mine since I turned 55 earlier this month less a $150 copay so we're going to confirm that's the case. If not, I'll be on the horn to Covered California to get signed up before Monday.
