The cop said that it would be impossible to tell Tognozzi's level of impairment until a tox report came back.

That is untrue. The ONLY way to tell the level of impairment of someone who has smoked marijuana is by their admission. A tox screen/chemical test is ONLY going to tell them that THC has been ingested within a minimum of 90 days. You can't tell me with a straight face that impairment will last for 90 days. As a regular smoker for the last 35+ years, I don't buy it. Even if he had smoked within a few hours, chances are he was suffering zero impairment from smoking.

But why take the chance? Each individual will have their own reaction to Marijuana. Some may be pushed over the edge after taking other drugs that are legitimate drugs like pain killers, etc.

We have enough problems with people driving with lessened reactions because of prescription drugs for good reasons. We don't need them adding marijuana to that when they're driving.

While it may not impair my driving or yours, it might impair my brother's driving because he does take pain medication for a continuing problem.

Marijuana is generally not taken for pain. If it is not prescribed for pain, then it should be illegal to drive while using it. No sense in taking chances.

A drug free highway is impossible to hope for. But we should at least continue to try.
