    not a limitation.

    And certainly a welcome one because of the acknowledgement of how many ways men can screw over women after we say "I love you".

    There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.

    •  This is correct - The Lautenberg Amendment (0+ / 0-)

      was sponsored by Senator Lautenberg to close a loophole in the Brady Act. Prosecutors were allowing men charged with assault and batterry (a felony) to plead down to a lesser charge of misdemeanor domestic violence. And that allowed the DV abuser to keep his guns.

      The Lautenberg Amendment brought us 922(g)(8) persons subject to a protective order, and 922(g)(9g) persons convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence.
