She said the call was hers but the nukes part was cut and paste in and I've listened to the tape a few times and she maybe right. Still, that begs the question, who does she want to nuke then? The scorched earth was regarding invading Russia. She basically said she would have started WWIII if she was in charge. Please stick her back in jail.

If there were to be a third world war over Ukraine, nobody would win. If it got to the point where Russia was losing, they could just launch nukes against us. And then we would launch back. And then we'd all burn.

It sounds like you want Ukraine to totally cave, to acquiesce, surrender their dignity just in case this ends up in a war. I think the Ukrainian people deserve better than that.

        •  Nope. (0+ / 0-)

It's not that I want them to cave; it's reality. The fact that people there are taking the law into their own hands on both sides of this debate means that the central government is weak. I don't see how sending hitmen to take out someone you don't like is evidence of control.

The man that was killed was one of the leaders of Right Sector. If the government is controlled by right wing Nazis, why would they send hit men to kill one of the leaders of Right Sector?

You have conflicting narratives because your facts are off. Makes no sense. And, there are far better sources than Russia Today. Al Jazeera has been good and so has BBC and much of the Eastern European press.

There's a big difference between saying that there is a serious threat of anarchy in the government based on recent events and saying that the government is controlled by Neo-Nazis. Thanks for playing.

                •  Well: (0+ / 0-)

As you can tell, I'm not a fan of either side. One side wants to loot Ukraine by getting in bed with the proponents of austerity. The other wants to loot Ukraine by playing Big Brother. The Ukrainian people are the losers.

                  •  Its not that simple EH (0+ / 0-)

This isn't a Rox/Sux thing, or a thing where there is two easily identifiable sides. This is about the people of Ukraine. You can be anti-IMF and anti-austerity without throwing the dignity of the Ukrainians under the bus or giving Putin a big hug.

I'm anti-IMF, anti-austerity, and anti-Putin. He would be making a tragic mistake if he were to occupy the rest of Eastern Ukraine. Right Sector already said they would do guerrilla warfare, and I believe them. Putin already will have serious problems with Crimea. Costs will be astronomical since Russian pensions are three times that of Ukrainians, for instance. And if he pisses off the Crimean Tartars (which he already has), there will be a guerrilla warfare problem there as well.

...nobody would win either, but I don't see either scenario as especially likely so it's not really part of my thinking.

A country that was a responsible for a genocide of your country that may have killed more people than the holocaust has invaded again and a politician uses figurative rhetoric. This is you justification for "sticking her in jail?"  I imagine a good chunk of the electorate feels this way. The comment had nothing to do with nuclear weapons.

for the looting of her country when she was PM. Not to mention she's a "person of interest" in the murder of another oligarch. She's as corrupt as they come. The list of accusations and crimes would make Al Capone feel like a loser.
