    Germany would fight for (possibly) is Poland, and Europe as a whole would rather blow up NATO than fight for the Baltics. It's their way.

    Am I suggesting they're craven...well yes, I am, at the national leadership level.

      folks are thinking about a resolution that doesn't require fighting.  Not sure what that would look like, though.  
      It seems Germany always sought a path in dealing with Russia that involved a very wary and gradual integration of Russia into Eurocommerce, creating economic interdependence that would  reduce the risk of open conflict.  Germany supported (and we opposed) entry of Russia into the WTO and OECD.
      So now what?  What does tomorrow look like?

      From US national interests we see China, Iran and Russia and their associated clients in tighter alignment in opposition to US and EU interests.
