    If Turkey and Saudi Arabia can't be bothered to intervene, both of whom are powerful enough to destroy Assad in a matter of days or weeks, why should we?

      but the reason is because their military is tiny and ineffective next to ours. And we have a capability that no other nation on Earth has: We can annihilate a country's entire anti-aircraft system using stealth bombers and cruise missiles, at almost no risk to our own pilots. Saudis don't have that capability.
