how for a change the lamestream investigated and broke the story about the Cuban Twitter revolution . Usually they don't give a damn. The other day yves Smith asked mockingly reg Ukraine if the rotting empire has become incapable of even funding a decent coup anymore. Now it seems they can't even get a "twitter revolution" going smoothly.

I watched a docu "Forbidden voices" on Women's day and it was about  women bloggers in  different countries - Iran, Yoani Sanchez in Cuba etc. These 2 stuck in my mind since the countries are in the US foreign policy crosshairs. The docu lacked historical context for both Iran and Cuba. No mention of US intervention in both the cases. Zip. NADA. Zilch.  When I pointed out that during the discussion, the lady co-ordinating the discussion on behalf of a local "human rights" group agreed but then dismissed saying we need to concentrate on the social media activism.  There were lots of latte liberals who were smitten by the bloggers "creating change" and were drooling in the comments. When another guy who is an activist working to change US policies towards Cuba pointed out Sanchez is being funded by the state dept, one latte liberal pointed out that she is not exactly rolling in money as seen in the doc. But having seen a few Cuban movies and heard from people who had been there, Sanchez's house seemed plush (it did seem modest compared to US). But it makes white latte liberals feel good. so why let facts mess up that warm, fuzzy feeling? More on the doc here :

Here is an article on that Cuban blogger:

heh... they can't even get a twitter revolution going smoothly...

i think that these neocons are into using brute force and the actions to stir up the natives are only there to create a pretext.  the operations don't have to be perfect, just plausibly deniable.  after all, everybody but the stupid, propaganda-fed american taxpayers know that the us is behind the destabilization actions in these countries.
