  •  I appreciate your analysis, but honestly (6+ / 0-)

you lost me at about your blue pie chart. Too many calculations explained too quickly, though maybe it's too late in the day for me to concentrate (I'm not usually innumerate).
    Clearly, the bottom lines are:
    1) we cannot afford to maintain, let alone expand, the current highway system given current revenue sources, not considering
    2) the no-longer-so-hidden climate costs that are incurred by the least efficient fossil-fuel consuming vehicles like cars and trucks.
It's all unsustainable and will indeed collapse soon.
But--what are we to do? I'm not aware of many citizen advocacy groups that are applying any pressure on these particular areas, not including the usual climate change organizations. Are there any? Do they have any traction?
Are there progressive congresspeople with any interest in this topic?
Thanks for your consistent efforts to raise awareness about these hugely important issues.

    •  Congresspeople I don't know ... (6+ / 0-)

... though I think there are some activists in Washington State that want to expand from just opposing fossil fuel export facilities into supporting alternatives to help save the earth.

How well the Sunday Train explains what its trying to get at ... well, that's an advantage of writing weekly. If I don't get a point the first time I try to explain it, I'll have another chance to get it right soon enough.
