    The Ching chong ding dong and characterized Asian voice was a direct lift from Rush Limbaugh. When you play Rush side-by-side with Colbert, you see that the Colbert writers didn't add a word. I wish that the Colbert bit had made that clearer.

      I think to the 1849 gold rush, when large numbers of chinese came to California to mine, and stayed to build most of our railroads.  Sorry story of discrimination after that.

      I also occurs as a stanza in the popular song "Rum and Coca-Cola" of the 40's.

      "Ching-chong, ching-chong chinaman,
      Lookin' for a bad girl with a dollar in his hand,
      Bad girl came, and sat on his lap,
      Three days later, clap-clap-"

      They can have my "promote the general welfare" when they pry it from my cold dead hands.
