Wall Street-friendly or not, I can imagine that huge numbers of NY Democrats are really, really pissed off with Cuomo over this.

Make an anti-charter-school run, and you might get somewhere.

trust me, his is not a killer issue with him on the left. UFT maybe, but not the left as a whole.

I think a primary challenger can probably get 30%-35%, but that's about it.

As far as charters, look how fast Democratic NYC turned against its mayor for being tough on charters. Believe me, Cuomo could be hurt by left angst over a lot of issues, this isn't one of them.

      •  it wasn't Charters (0+ / 0-)

that made DeBlasio's polling numbers fall. It was all the snowstorms we had after he took office where the snow removal which had worked great under Bloomberg managed to fail miserably under DeBlasio although the old Sanitation Commissioner stayed on the job for a couple of months.

the city turned against him on the issue of charters. Largely due to millions of dollars in ads with NO pushback whatsoever form the left.

And btw, the snow removal which had worked great under Bloomberg? You must live in Manhattan.

Here in Queens, my street got plowed for the first time since 2008.

The next time you wonder why the mayor is in hot water, remember that even you bought the New York Post's framing of an issue, and I'd imagine you're a lot smarter and more in tune than the average New Yorker.

but I never read the Post on line or on the stands. So I have no idea how they framed the issue.  I do know that many people were not happy with how the plowing went down and it wasn't just us in Manhattan who were not happy.  He also took a hit with the snow day issue.

People are also a little worried about the pace of his appointments.

Listen, I voted for De Blasio. He needs to work on lobbying and how he manages his PR. He is new. It shows.

I have raised 4 kids in the city.  3 have gone to public schools in the city and one to Private school.  I do not like Charters when it comes to the co location issue and how that is handled. I also don't like the Charter provisions as they stand in the budget agreement. This takes away resources from other children. It's the needs of a few, the charter school kids, versus the needs of the many...the other 94% of the public school population. There are kids in that 94% going to school in portables that have become permanent and we need to pay to lease private space if co location can't be found? This is the definition of  insanity.

I don't appreciate Cuomo for this agreement and that he basically approved stealing the Senate from Democratic control.

but you simply cannot ignore that the city turned against him on the charter issue.

For whatever reason, the city went with the governor on this. It's not a dangerous issue for him at all. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking it is.
