I assume DiNapoli and Schneiderman can't run for two offices at the same time.

Maybe Spitzer should try.  Scott Stringer (who beat him) is a good guy too.

    •  I think Stringer would be seen as too (0+ / 0-)

"City."  I don't think he would get the support of nearly enough upstaters.

      •  I thought he was too Manhattan (0+ / 0-)

to beat Spitzer (though Spitzer is but a shell of himself)

Scott just needs a few pictures of himself out stalking bunny rabbits, or sitting in a perch with a crossbow

And maybe some ice-fishing shots, with a thermos and a bottle of Yukon Jack

mayor so he was practically handed the comptroller office. I think a city council member or two were planning on running put were told not to which is why I was happy that Spitzer stepped in. I'm over these back room deals and cakewalks to office.

He'll have a tough time though.  Ruben Diez Jr is certainly running. And I'd be surprised if Tish James and Melissa Mark-Viverito didn't also give a race a go as well once diBlasio is done.

Stringer's too cautious to take a stab against Cuomo.  He already pulled back from the Mayor's race last year because he was afraid of Christine Quinn.  And Andrew Cuomo is a hell of a lot scarier.

The key will be the Working Families Party and whether they are their union friends are done being abused.  They are the ones who can get ballot access (in both the general the Democratic primary) and can provide organization.  Unfortunately the best they can do outside of a novelty celeb (like say Alec Baldwin) is an unknown city official.  Be it an NYC councilperson or the Mayor of small town upstate.  Or a union head.  Which is why it is is not a bad bet that they will fold too like they did in 2010.  Here is an old diary which explains what happened.
