  •  Ya think? (0+ / 0-)

I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Anthem yesterday, and still don't know what screening for colon cancer is covered w/o deductible. Colonoscopy is apparently not considered a screening to them, although that is how it is referred to everywhere.

Fecal Occult Blood lab tests, which you should have before a colonoscopy  anyway, and probably shouldn't have a colonoscopy unless you fail an FOB.  Just my opinion.

reading up on it, and have seen that test explained. Getting it first makes some sense, although they do say that if there are small polyps, they often don't bleed, so nothing shows up in that test.
What I don't get is why no one at Anthem can tell me what screening they will pay for. Perhaps because they don't want to pay for it?

I have a shiny new Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield card and I was told that a colonoscopy is definitely covered, every 5 years as part of my physical.  So I'm guessing maybe they have state-to-state differences in what they cover?

I was surprised when a $275 epipen came up "free" at my Costco pharmacy, partly at how expensive they've gotten, and partly because they were free.

      •  Yeah, a bottom line bronze plan. (0+ / 0-)

It's all I could afford. I'm in Va. 6k deductible. I got a paper that I think will get me the actual printed out plan. It has an odd name, but I do think it will tell me what I bought. So far, all I've been able to see is a summary. Cannot sign up on their website, so still have a pig in a poke, and the poke glued shut!
I'm glad you got a good plan!
