  •  the Senate race will go down to the wire is (3+ / 0-)

my guess. Having such a strong Governor's race will help drive Dem turnout and disgust with LePage and his statehouse enablers may well lead to a clean house mentality. Collins is aware of this and has been sure to keep cameras away during the fundraisers she has done with LePage.

Should be an election junkie's dream year.

to have imploded a bit lately. His tantrum over not getting the environmental endorsement was one example. What is he thinking? Michaud may be a moderate, but he IS a legitimate environmentalist from way back. That's what got him into politics. Who did Cutler think was going to get that endorsement?

? And Cutler is getting what 10%? Cutler should drop out imo.

        •  Cutler is a narcissist. He'll never drop out. (0+ / 0-)

I've said for years that President Obama ought to appoint him to a diplomatic post and get him the heck out of the State.

        •  I think Michaud will win. (0+ / 0-)

He's a middle of the road moderate Democrat. He's a Franco-American, which is big deal in his heavily Franco-American district. Now, LePage is also a Franco-American, but Michaud's French is way better. Michaud is a Roman Catholic, but pro-choice which plays well statewide. He also did something really important when he announced his candidacy: he came out of his glass closet (we all knew anyway) and that plays very well in Southern Maine which has the highest concentration of both voters and Democrats.

Mike is a really good legislator. Spud1 and some other Maine Kossacks make a good point when they say his executive skills are not the best. But I think he'll win, and be a decent governor. He'll certainly be an improvement over LePage, but he's no Angus King, who's already in the Senate anyway.

            as long as he:
1 Protects the Environment- I think he proposed the maine Coastal wilderness act
            2: Accepts Medicaid expansion
3 generally doesn't embarrass himself in public
            he'll be a good governor.

            •  Mike has already said that he'd expand (0+ / 0-)

Medicaid and even has a website up where you can tell Little Paulie LePage not to veto the lege's bill to expand it.

set aside the North woods as a state monument once hes in office. Think of Adirondack park in NY except 1.5 times bigger. That way the big bad mean federal government wont steal it away from those god-fearin' Mainers. (Yes I'm snarking here) writing to Lepage is a waste of time, the only person LePage cares about is the one he sees in the mirror each morning.
