No doubt there have been some people who had "insurance" policies with lifetime and annual caps plus waffle language that lets the insurance company cancel or increase premiums when the policy holder gets sick or injured. Those premiums may have been only half as much as an ACA-compliant policy. Some of those people may not have realized how lousy their coverage was -- until they needed it.

    •  Could be the case. (0+ / 0-)

I've not dug deep into each of their policy statements.  Generally speaking, beyond the specific people that I've seen and spoke to, there still seems to be a lot of chatter, and dems (no more saying "libs"!) that are abandoning ship for some of these very reason.  I'm just curious whats behind it.  If there's any truth to it.

      •  Why would someone let you look (5+ / 0-)

        at their policy statements?

Karl? Is that you, or merely a poorly paid lacky?

I smell a new tactic because the last thing Rove and his ilk want to see is a united Democratic Party speaking loud and clear about how all Americans are benefiting from the ACA.

Yep, all 317 million of us.

3.1 million young adults able to stay on their parents health insurance until the age of 26

105 million no longer have life time caps on their insurance.

        6.1 million

Americans with Medicare Part D no longer have to go through the "doughnut hole" coverage gap. This means seniors can save more than $5.7 billion on prescription drugs.

        50 to 129 million

That's how many people will benefit from the Obamacare provision that eliminates all bars for coverage based on pre-existing conditions.

Women no longer have to pay twice as much for the same policy as men.

And the list goes on and on.

Trust me, we're going to be talking about that list again and again and again right up to election night.

And no amount of trollbaggery is going to stop us.

        •  Great link (0+ / 0-)

Thanks.  Thats the help I was looking for out of this group.

Its tough to convince a couple that have no children that were paying $450/mo for insurance before they had to sign up in an exchange, that the $800/mo they're now going to have to pay is worth it.  I can understand frustration with that.  (just one eg.)

          •  that doesn't jive (5+ / 0-)

with your statements that income levels for the people you were checking things out for were at 100K and over 200k, because no one at that income level is getting a subsidy, so they were free to shop the private market.

Now you may have been checking something out for others as well, but again, no one on the internet should take anything at face value.  Either you have some consistent facts for us to fact check for you, or you are making assertions without evidence, that should be rejected.

And search for blogs or articles about democrats abandoning ship over the ACA, they aren't there.

Exactly , if a person never got sick they have no idea their plans were junk , but you talk to people who got sick on those plans , and most of them will tell you how worthless the plans were , the structure of our dysfunctional HC system needed to be addressed , I have no pity for people who do not get that , because none of them got screwed by our HC system before the ACA , there is enough DOCUMENTATION out there to confirm how screwed up our HC system was and is
