    One group of the "media" reports on things that get viewers, secures ad dollars or product placement dollars, and/or provides opportunities for more money for the individual reporter.

    The other group of the "media" reports on the first group, to provide themselves with opportunities for for more money.

    Their offices are right next to each other. They don't seem to realize this.

    More money comes from the GOP, in terms of ownership and ad dollars, so...

    Mostly, just as with every other cable channel, cable news is simply becoming a generic "lowest common denominator entertainment outlet". It's wrong to view CNN, for instance, as any different than TLC or A&E at this point. It's not news, it's CNN, and that brand today is generic entertainment, not news.
