You don't know how kind that offer is!

Although we will probably not be looking until next spring, we would love to cyber-foster a dog in the meantime!

Our beloved Clem had to make that awful last trip to the vet just before 2014 began.

He was an abandoned, blond cocker spaniel, who we took in 9 years ago.  Probably about 7 at the time.  About 2 1/2 yrs ago, he developed some sort of tumor, near his heart & stomach.  Despite being near Cornell Vet School, nothing could be done about it.

It was slow to grow, and our local vet said he was on borrowed time for the last 6 months.  All of a sudden, it seemed to catch up with him quickly mid-Dec.

We have plans to be away for 20 days in the future, and at $25. a day for boarding, that is a big chunk of change.

Even when we don't have a dog with us, we try to give our business to lodgings that do accept pets.  We always let them know that when we check out.

Head pats & scritches to your two - and a hug for you!

It's seems like last month, but 2 years ago we lost the sweetest dog after years of progressive kidney loss. She was only 8.

Knowing for several years that her time was limited was actually a blessing in disguise. She gave us all the love we could want, and we returned it right back to her.

Now we have bookends. A 1 year old, and old faithful, a (nearly) 14 year old.

sick dog & the loss!  If you people are like us, you are still expecting to see her in the places and modes which became a familiar part of your lives and household.  I'm sure kidney problems meant she was high maintenance, with meds & special food.  Somehow that all melts away with the wag of a tail or lick on the face.

Hope you are able to take the dogs with you on vacation.
