    never plug in a flash drive, as those can have viruses loaded on them (as well as any other external drive).  Don't borrow a CD or DVD from anyone that isn't from a known manufacturer.  If you're not on the Internet but have, for example, a house network like to share music around the house, you could still become infected.

    And recently we heard that the NSA can figure out ways to get installed on non-networked computers as well, though it's highly unlikely they're going to get around to your home computer for awhile.

    Just wanted to point out that the Internet isn't the only source for viruses.  They can't do much once they install, but the worst can corrupt files and even hardware.
