  •  People would support enforcement (11+ / 0-)

The really ridiculous thing is the if the SEC were to really crack down, make Wall Street Corporations admit fraud, put a few CEO's in prison, the people would rally in support!  Even the most uniformed of the voters could get behind a "throw the banksters in jail" rally and most of those voters vote GOP because they just don't know any better.  If the Dems could come out in support of, you know, Law Enforcement and tough penalties for defrauding people, a bunch of those Republican voters would change their vote.

Should this be a political witch hunt? Hell no!  This should be about the rule of law and penalizing those that don't play by the rules. Very simple stuff.

The largest banks should arguably have been broken up in the wake of the 2008-9 financial meltdown. We have only weak guarantees that they will not fail again and be bailed out again. They are too complex to be able to confidently judge the risks they represent: risks to their clients, to the government that bailed them out the last time, and to the financial system as a whole.
