    destination for a 35-year-old center. They're a rebuilding team and not really trying to win, so it makes more sense for them to try to develop younger players and hold pat instead of bringing in veterans. The Nets are trying to win it all this year and their starting center was injured, so they made more sense as a destination for Collins. Collins is probably also happier to play with the Nets rather than on a terrible Lakers team that is vying for a bottom five record. Not to downplay the important social ramifications of the signing, but Collins probably ended up where he is primarily for basketball reasons. And in a lot of ways, it's a really positive thing if gay basketball players are afforded the same opportunities as straight ones, so I am quite happy with this development.

      Im just talking about putting 5 guys on the floor for 60 minutes.  Collins was sitting at home when they needed minutes.  In the end it worked out but it was crazy that an experienced player couldn't get picked up when they had needs like that.
