I want to say thanks for doing the jury duty.  It sickens me when I hear people talk about strategies for getting out of doing the work of a citizen.  Thanks.

I want to be a part of seeing justice done.

I am always a registered voter and a licensed driver, so I don't know why I was never called.

Until a few years ago, I was 54, finally I got the notice.

There were 450 potential jurors. The court clerk said 150 were excused beforehand. Three hundred, including me, showed up.

I had to drive 20 miles and then take a bus, and I do not live at the extreme ends of my county.

We listened to different people tell us about our duty for two days and there were three (at least) instances of blatant illegality, the worst of which was a campaign speech.

All they needed was 8 jurors. It was a civil suit, 6 jurors, 2 alternates.

The rest of us were let go and we were paid a tiny amount for our time and transportation. But what a waste! Of fuel if nothing else.

I sat there and read my copy of "The Trial" by Kafka.

You could end up in trial for months, you might sit, bored, for a couple of days.  You don't know in advance.  they shouldn't be giving campaign speeches, however, that is cruel.
