    ...for progressives, it's a mixed blessing at best.  On the downside, it means that if Cantor & Crew should prevail, the House will become even more extreme, intransigent and dysfunctional than it already is.  Good luck getting even the most modest, benign legislation through the Congress and onto the President's desk, so long as the inmates are running amok in the asylum.

    On the upside, it presents Democrats with a superb opportunity to expose the messy machinations of the House GOP Clown Show, for all the voters to see - IF they're willing and able to take advantage (always a key question when one is referring to the Democrats).  Unfortunately, even if successful, such a tactic wouldn't bear fruit until the 2016 general elections - meaning that we could pretty much write off any chance of progress for the next two years, as Obama's lame duck period begins in earnest.

    All that is necessary for the triumph of the Right is that progressives do nothing.
