    not the same entity as the news division.  He'll be fine as far as that goes. Whether the ratings hold up is another matter.  He was safe at Comedy Central.  CBS won't give him a lot of slack and I'm not sure he's ready for that. We'll see.

        However, it's cable, not network.  A lower rated program survives on cable. It doesn't necessarily survive on network.  Whole different set of executives for Stephen to report to also, some of them not the smartest people in television.  Better corporate politicians, though.

        CBS and Viacom split into separate companies several years ago, and Viacom is the owner of Comedy Central.

        There's some common management at the top (Moonves), but they are not the same company.
