  •  I suggest Comedy Central give it to Jason Jones (2+ / 0-)

and create similar wingnut personality. Jones is amazingly convincing at playing as a male chauvinist pig with zero understanding of the issues, as seen in his conservataive dating service skit and those Iran segments. That's the only way I can see Comedy Central salvaging anything from this. Jason Jones is by far the Daily Show's best correspondent, and has been since Colbert left. I was a little pissed when Jon Oliver was handed hosting gig in Jon absence.

at playing the role of Daily Show host, and it was fun to see his take on it, but it was still the same writers creating the same role (with a bit of an English twist).

But Colbert created a different kind of show with a different kind of parody host, and I don't see any way John Oliver could play that role.

I think you're right that Jason Jones would make more sense, but he would still be very different. I think he'd play it more like a parody of Eric Bolling rather than Bill O'Reilly.

But nobody's going to replace Stephen Colbert, and I wonder if they'll even try.
