    not consensual -- blaming it all on the Congressman rather than on his own wife. If it was non-consensual (i.e. sexual harrassment), then hubby shouldn't necessarily be so eager to divorce. So his statement doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

      But I tend to think that a lot of unequal power affairs like this might not be consensual, especially considering that the staffer was quickly fired.
      I was thinking more of the emotional betrayal--the lack of respect, as some other writers have mentioned--as the wreckage the man was referring to.
      Perhaps he really loved his wife. In that case, he'd be wanting to get at least some acknowledgement of his pain from the man who helped cause it. After all, the apology was given to everyone else from God on down to constituents.
