    made the same attack on a male senator.  However, I stand by what I said. Sexism may well exacerbate the problem in Merkel’s case, but I doubt that a male chancellor would have fared substantively better in this particular matter.

        the diary is about the refusal to give her access to the file, not about the bugging of her phone, so I’ve been talking about that refusal, not about the bugging.
