      like many of the others being discussed,is a character actor.  Colbert was a star - he holds the characters together in a single narrative.

      I'm not sure who (if anyone) could hold a show together. I'm sure Comedy Central and Colbert and Stewart are thinking hard on it.

      I am not religious, and did NOT say I enjoyed sects.

        "Stephen Colbert" started as a character on the Daily Show.

          his character broke out very rapidly, and most people could see there was more going on.  I'm not as sanguine about the others. Oliver has talent, but a contract elsewhere.  Williams has a lot of potential.  But the others ... don't shine as bright for me.  Could just be me.  We'll see.
