  •  So let me get this straight... (0+ / 0-)

In Miami-Dade, they intend to close the bathrooms for ALL voters, supposedly in order “to ensure that individuals with disabilities are not treated unfairly”.  In other words, to implement a sort of forced egalitarianism by disadvantaging the privileged so that everybody is equally disadvantaged - rather than by benefiting the disadvantaged so that everyone is equally privileged.

IIRC, in Wisconsin a similar thing recently occurred, as the Milwaukee County Board of Elections voted to restrict voting days & hours, in order to bring them into conformity with the more restricted voting opportunities that prevail in most of Wisconsin's thinly-populated rural counties - under the pretext of "fairness through uniformity", or some similar such nonsense.  In other words, another example of lowering the standard of public service for an entire population so that everyone is "equally" disadvantaged - rather than raising the standard of service for a subset of the population, so that everyone is equally advantaged.

Question:  Isn't this precisely the kind of thing that right-wingers are always accusing progressives of doing?

All that is necessary for the triumph of the Right is that progressives do nothing.
