      47 million were uninsured before the ACA. We do not know how many of the 7.1 million who signed up on the exchanges were previously uninsured with any accuracy, although we can estimate it at about 60% in some states. Also, a lot of new Medicaid recipients were uninsured, but again we don't have good numbers on how many.

      Various data suggest 4.5 million uninsured are getting covered on the exchanges, a bit more than 60%. This is consistent with several surveys showing comparable drops in the percentage of uninsured.

      None of this information is up to date with the surge. The closest we have is 14.5% uninsured in the last two weeks of March in a Gallup survey. So we can assume that it is now slightly less than that.
