all the global protest movements including OWS that shook the world in 2010 were/are not ideological. They are addressing the current political and economic structures that rule human societies. The too big's, the entities that rule the world are not interested in solving the problems we face as humans. They are not interested in social justice or democracy. These concepts are an impediment to their 'geopolitical' profit and power.

The growing disparity between rich and poor, social injustice and devastating climate change effect us all. 'The owners of the place' are anti-democratic global economic power structures that need to be taken on by the people. OWS was successful as most people know 'this is not what democracy looks like'. It enabled people to talk about injustice beyond the free flowing bs. we get from our politicians and the power structures that like GS 'rule the world'. It moved horizontally across the lines of politics and gave voice to the truth. It's effects are going to linger as we the people globally have no alternative but to stand up and resit.

'To create is to resist, to resist is to create'

"The global protest movement does not resemble the Communist movement, which declared that the world had to be overturned according to its viewpoint"...."This is not an ideological revolution. It is driven by an authentic desire to get what you need. From this point of view, the present generation is not asking governments to disappear but to change the way they deal with people's needs."

One caveat: Strident as I am by nature, I very much try to unite the left in my praxis rather than divide. I am forward looking but also not trying to find a perfect organization to join. I am ready to make common cause with any democratically oriented comrades. As the Pope said, many people whom he admires have been Marxists. Me too, and I may be one myself, depending on the definition. Many "old school" communist movements made terrible mistakes. But, as Reinhold Niebuhr observed, they sometimes also accomplished incredibly difficult acts through great self-sacrifice. I don't wish to try to cover in a comment this broad topic, but just to note that we must learn from the past, but not all of the past was a mistake. For instance, I'm glad Fidel Castro kicked out Batista. While he has made many mistakes, it's not easy being Red, or even Pink, in a Green, as in Dollar, -driven blockaded CIA-sabotaged world. Please if interested in my deeper views, see my other diaries including my recent diary on Cuba for Anti-Capitalist Meetup.
