    in calling out our society's bullshit messages. He brilliantly made fun of American advertising and idiocies. I think a lot of younger people don't get how innovative that was, because David Letterman has so many heirs that -also brilliantly- have riffed of what he added to American comedy. Jon Stewart and Stephan Colbert, to my mind the funniest dudes on tv, are prime examples of comics that built on Letterman's legacy.

        bit on JohnMcCain when he was running. Letterman made him a joke. A running joke. You would think Romney would have learned.

        Did you watch when he and others got the Presidential Medal of the Arts? Amazing program. I'll bet it's probably accessible on the White House feed.
