  •  Obamacare (7+ / 0-) a winning agrugment..... should we remind Democrats running for office of this fact?....  I refuse to donate to any Dem that uses "fix" in their campaign dialogue....if they are not smart enough to run with a winner, then they dont need to win......

    •  It does need fixing (5+ / 0-)

at least to enable people in the Medicaid gap to get subsidized exchange policies, and to fix some of the weirdness where if your employer coverage would be affordable for you alone, but not for you and your family, you're nevertheless shut out of the subsidies for the family coverage. (Or so I understand -- I'm single so not caught in that bind, but we've had some diaries from people who were.)

And frankly 9.5% of income is a pretty high threshold for "affordable" coverage.

And there likely needs to be more attention to what constitutes reasonable restrictions on networks, given the reports of some very narrow networks that don't include all specialties.

And on my wish list, both ACA policies and Medicare are explicitly ordered to negotiate drug prices downward, not just pay whatever Big Pharma wants to charge them.

      •  and also, why the subsidy cliff at >$46K? (0+ / 0-)

employees get subsidies even if they earn lots more. The self-employed etc should also have no subsidy cliff. Phase out the subsidies very smoothly to nothing at the top end, at incomes of around $80K per person.

That is an improvement I'd like to see.

(But agree, politically, no sense whining about 'fixing' - be very positive about all it's achieved, and say 'and here's how we'd like to improve it.'

Thanks Democrats! My Obamacare is permanent coverage no one can take away - and saving $3,000 is nice too
