  •  We can't cede this to the right, it's what they.. (8+ / 0-)

Exacerbating racial tensions has been one of the most powerful wedges used by a ruling few to literally divide and conquer. Pitting people against one another, who should and would have a much better opportunity to be working together against corpo/ plutocratic and yes, structured oppression.

So it seems to me that to leave the "race card" (as labeled by and as a projection of the right) that the right wing have used, and continues to accuse, out of the over-all discussion on the issues, whether or not one agrees with how the President has done his job, is very short sighted.

RWNJ have created the space for a false meme. The - "playing the race card" space that the MSM has gladly accommodated into our national dialogue.

We can not cede that space to the right. It's wrong. It's how the right operates hoping we will

This is the basis of the latest RWNJ and racial separatists assaults; the F0x Bill O'Reilly, Hannity, SCOTUS John Roberts et al.

The BS republican stated desire to be "post racial" or "color blind" also has reverberations of the interposition & nullification along with Justice Roberts recent rulings (VRA as but one) and arguments. It harkens back to the southern strategy - imo
Roberts is right there with the Fox & friends crowd with his version of the republicans counter attack/accusations of "race baiting" :

“The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”
How Not to End Racial Discrimination By Jamelle Bouie | April 18, 2014
The right has always been against race-conscious remedies to racial discrimination, touting “colorblindness” as the “constitutional” approach to making policy. But it’s only been in the last five years—since the election of Barack Obama—that it’s scored significant victories.

Thank you Denise Oliver Velez - hard hitting and spot on
