NPR had a report this morning saying that the 7.5 million figure is clearly much less than signed up for coverage, because it only includes those who signed up through the exchanges. Given the problems that the exchanges were having, once they determined that the person wasn't eligible for a subsidy, many insurance brokers were signing people up directly with the insurance company.

at ACA Signups by Kossack brainwrap, and in my ACA Signups Diaries, which I took over from him at his request. Here are today's numbers.

Estimated Exchange QHPs as of April 15, 2014: 7.78M

      Estimated Total, all sources: (14.1 M - 26.1 M)*

      Individual QHP Range: (7.24M - 15.58M)  •  Medicaid/CHIP (5.23M - 7.29M)

      ESIs (106K documented)  •  Sub26ers (1.60M - 3.10M)

(OFF-Exch. ESIs: 34K confirmed; Rand study finds up to 8.2M more possible)

      •  Yep, but it's being reported more widely now (0+ / 0-)

        And that's a good thing.

Paul Krugman has written two pieces on the fact that the MSM is roundly ignoring all progress in enrolling people in any ACA program. If NPR has come around, that's good, but it does not help us with the networks (other than MSNBC, which has featured the numbers and brainwrap's graph multiple times) and the supposedly mainstream print and online media.
