    To the best of my understanding, the Neo-Conservatives (at least the PNAC faction) aren't involved at all in the Grover Norquist "starve the beast", "no taxes for the wealthy" domestic movement. Their agenda is a geo-political agenda.

    There is a confluence of interests in the current BushCo version of the GOP which pulls together the disparate strands of geo-political idealogues, corporatists and economic elitists, and religious fundamentalist theocrats. An unholy alliance, but not all of them are on the same page.

    Of course there are also a good number of old-fashioned Main Street Republicans (who may be sympathetic to zero or more of the above causes) who are still trying to figure out how to get back control of this mess and steer it back to responsibility and sanity.
