and that whole event still invokes such a strong emotion in me.  It signifies a lot of things, but one thing that's most symbolic at this moment is that this administration holds nothing about our country sacred.  Nothing.  The kind of honor that I treasure means nothing to them.  There is no resemblance between them and me.

That medal is so cheapened by the whole affair.  Hypocrisy and layer upon layer of falsity and deception.  Ugh.

Funny the first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture today is that it looks like Bush is going to strangle Tenet with that medal.

I still don't know what to think about all the subplots surrounding that whole thing, and Powell and all of it.  Someday I hope we know the whole story because we deserve to know and because there are certainly many lessons to be learned from it.

the "official" story of 'personal reasons.'

one alternate theory that tenet was rewarded the MoH as part of his payback for being the fall guy on the intel and quietly resigning in the dead of night.

and a newer alternate theory spawned of the plame case that tenet resigned because he disagreed with shrubCo and wanted to help fitz nail them.

the fun begins when you realize that the two alternate theories are not mutually exclusive.  they are simply two subjective experiences (shrubCo's and tenet's, respectively) of an event.
