    I thought Starbucks might be sponsoring a rope-jumping contest to benefit kids. Instead they're jumping their profits around various countries and shell companies to avoid paying taxes. I definitely don't understand all the details of these complicated financial machinations--but I do understand that Starbucks is just trying to be an even bigger greedy bastard than it already is. I hope the burgeoning home roasting movement takes some wind out of their sail--and results in a better cup of coffee besides.

        GETTING ROASTED with its first Wikipedia link looks to be a good start. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but the smell of fresh-brewed coffee is wonderful. My coffee downfall is Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream.
