  •  the 10-city strategy... (1+ / 0-)

...if we can exceed turnout expectations in just ten key cities, then Democrats will have a chance to hold onto the Senate.

In my opinion, a special effort to ensure Democratic turnout in the following cities, will do wonders to help prevent that Republican sweep:  Anchorage, AK, Little Rock, AR, Atlanta, GA, Louisville, KY, Baton Rouge & New Orleans, LA, Detroit, MI, Raleigh and Winston-Salem in NC and Charleston, WV.

That's not to say that Democrats should put all of their eggs in that basket. My suggestion is a special targeted effort in those ten cities on top of everything else Democrats are doing throughout the country.

    •  Actually an awful strategy (1+ / 0-)

Even putting a lot of eggs in that basket would distract from where we need to concentrate.

      States where it's wrong:
Alaska: We need a concerted effort to drive native turnout.
Arkansas: We need a concerted effort to drive turnout on the Delta, not just Little Rock.
Louisiana: We need a concerted effort to drive rural AfAm turnout. More than any other place in the country, we need a specific precinct-by-precinct turnout effort.
North Carolina: Charlotte is actually the most undertapped voting resource in the state. Another place where rural AfAm turnout should be a priority.
Kentucky: Yes, we need Louisville, but the state is quite rural and too many residual Dems live in the west and northeast of the state.
Georgia: Yet another place where rural AfAm turnout is key.

      States where it's right:
Michigan: Detroit-Ann Arbor, Lansing and the Flint-Bay City corridor are the necessary areas.
Montana: High turnout in Missoula, Helena, Butte and Bozeman are the keys to victory.

...meant to include Charlotte, but was in a hurry and didn't main point is that with an extra GOTV effort in the top 10 key metropolitan areas in states where Senate seats are on the line...Democrats could increase voter turn and improve chances of holding the Senate significantly.

We should also be making efforts to bolster turnout everywhere, including in rural areas where it can make a difference.
