  •  Vine maples (7+ / 0-)

My vine maples are in various stages.  I keep tabs on 4 different individuals for Nature's Notebook.  They range from two with leaf buds still just bursting to one with leaves completely unfurled and about 75% of full size.  They are all just a few years old after being planted as bareroot sticks about 1 ft tall, so I won't be reporting on flowers, seeds, etc. any time soon.

Here's a rerun from the "yellow" bucket on the emerging groundcones.

Later on, they'll look like this:

    •  Very strange flowers on that groundcone! (4+ / 0-)

It sounds like you are seeing significant differences with your vine maples. I just got in from an excursion, but later on today I will go take some photos of mine, and we can compare to yours, see which one it's most like. Mine is growing out in the open, full light, and is partway unfurled.
