  •  I've never seen any wild turkeys (6+ / 0-)

    around here. This bird is obviously domesticated--we can approach it and coax it to where we want it to go, and once it was behind the fence, it hung around the chicken pen. It also went right for the grain I threw at it's feet.

    We have lots of woodland vegetation in common, but we're about 7 miles inland from the Sound on what used to be part of the South Sound prairies (that's a good topic for a diary). Farming and forestry has changed the landscape to be more like the rest of Western WA,
