and could cause the Ukrainian government to lose the support of the West?

It's not particularly a well thought out move, but that's a plausible motivation.

it's supposedly the 'terrorists' behind it. Why would they implicate themselves as...whatver this pamphlet is trying to 'accomplish'?

It would be them, the eastern 'terrorists' who'd lose the support of the west, the very little that they have, that is. It absolutely benefits no one except those who are looking for a pretext to 'go all in' to Eastern Ukraine. Period.

Have you considered that possibility that there are anti-semites in Eastern Ukraine?

Anti-semites who would consider chasing as many Jews as possible out of town to be a benefit?

        •  In a regional municipal population (8+ / 0-)

Of just over 1.5 million, there are just over 5,000 Jewish residents.

There are not many Jewish people in the Ukraine anymore, most are concentrated in the East, as Stalin and the Red Army generally treated them better, than the Ukrainian Nationalists and the Germans.

With the Immigration/Emigration deal with Israel, a lot of the Jewish people,(and Russian and Ukrainian's pretending to be Jewish), left for Israel.

          •  Israel (0+ / 0-)

Hopefully the situation is Israel has improved since this was published in 2000.

Most of the immigrants didn't find a job in Israel and today immigrants from Russia represent the biggest section among the unemployed. Even those who found a job didn't find one in the profession they had been trained for. Today in Israel we can see a lot of former Soviet engineers, medical workers, even scientists, who have ended up working in casual jobs in the factories.
If not, presumably Putin has a just cause to send forces into Israel to provide "brotherly assistance" to Russians who are being oppressed.

          •  this is what makes no sense here (0+ / 0-)

One of the claims supposedly made by the fliers was that the Jews supported the Banderas, which doesn't make any sense.

            •  This is why some pro-russians in the east (5+ / 0-)

think that "the Jews support the Banderas":

Ukrainian Jewish Leaders to Putin: You Lie, Leave Ukraine in Peace.

It was an open letter by Ukrainian Jewish leaders in support of the Ukrainian revolution, telling Putin to buzz off.

And if you're only listening to Russian propaganda media, which is constantly droning on about the Banderitsa/fascist/Neo-Nazi govt. in Kiev, then you might well come to the conclusion that "the Jews support Bandera".

That's what non-stop Kremlin propaganda does to people's minds.  Its deleterious effects are seen even with some commenters here on DailyKos.

I'm denying the obvious fakeness that is this letter.
