    Several times students pushed me for what ONE thing I would do or propose to address certain things
    Is this an American disease or more universal? That people want a nice, tidy, single solution, only the top ranked problem, #1 is important but everything else is pointless?
    It seems so black&white, like people can't handle color.

    If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

      could do to introduce more nuance into civic political debates, it would be to ban bumperstickers.

      •  One of the virtues of bumperstickers (0+ / 0-)

        is that it is often an indicator of aggressive drivers. Thus, it is a wonderful way of communicating to other drivers that there is a likely potential hazard to their immediate driving lane.  Research on drunk driving looked at all sorts of factors that might contribute, and this was one.
