I'd love to have a Subaru again someday.  We drove the heck out of our Subaru (which also had a stick shift) and it never let us down.  When the shelter truck came to take it away (we donated it to charity), i actually cried as it went down the road.  I could care less about cars in general, but that car represented a big chunk of our history.

I know you're resisting the automatic, but do you think it might be useful to visit your Subaru dealer and see about trying one out?  If you like it, maybe they'll do a trade!

Good job protecting your knee.  Pictures of the project, please!

a bit of money (new tires and other essentials)... I think if anything it'll be a couple of years before I think of a new car.  My neighbor across the street who also used to insist on stick shift did get an automatic.  She told me that she loves it... of course it's another Subaru!  (their third!)

I love the stick because of the snow.  She said hers can still plow through snow without a problem - even if it IS automatic.  :D

because I can now haul MORE lumber than I realized, I'll be able to make the project BIGGER!!  :D

Originally I was just going to make a low deck for the gas grill... and then build a trellis around it to somewhat give it shelter if it rains lightly (so grilling is still possible).  Not a big to-do.  Simple.

But NOW.. since I can haul a lot more than I realized, I can extend the low deck for seating.  :D

I mean I need someplace to sit up off the grass so I can WATCH THE HUMMERS return!  :D
