    What's that got to do with this blockquote you offered in your comment above, which was from another comment above that:

    He planned the heist with Greenwald for months - you think they didn't plan ahead? He just popped up in Hong Kong, went public, and then ???
    Specifically, the bolded part.

    What "heist?"

    When you're done clarifying that, perhaps you can tell me why it matters so much to you and the other "skeptic" above in the first place?

      taken a long time to copy all that data. However, his opportunity to flee was constrained by his 20 day sick leave in Hong Kong. So his flight from there and cancelled passport was unplanned.
         The US and its allies showed themselves willing to undertake outright gangsterism by forcing down an aircraft carrying a head of state because they thought Snowden might be aboard.
      At that point, Snowden had no options. It was Russia or "extraordinary rendition" or assassination.
