  •  Louisiana is incredibly polarized (4+ / 0-)

    even at the precinct level. Once, when I was playing around on DRA, I decided to collect all precincts voting for Obama together, and all precincts voting for McCain together. Louisiana had by far the most disparate results (I don't remember the exact numbers, but they were easily above 70% for each candidate), an even greater difference than in Mississippi. Compare that to less polarized states like Connecticut and Massachusetts, where the McCain-voting precincts collectively voted something like 55% Republican.
