    You really do need to read the Minnesota report in view of your trip!

    I agree with you, they are fascinating. But once seen they become an aberration on most wild landscapes.

      Minnesota's agricultural land might be too valuable for windmills and the SW corner rates a "4" on wind intensity, on a scale of 7.

      North Dakota's Pembina Escarpment rates a "5" on that same scale of 7. I wonder if that land is less valuable being more arid.

      Local aethestics deserve substantial consideration but if a rancher wants windmills and the land underneath lacks the water needed for growing more than hay, seems like a win/win to me.
