  •  Law Officers (7+ / 0-)

Everyone should notice that the list includes 2 cases of murder-suicide where both parties were law officers.  Three city police and a corrections officer.  The stress level in those jobs is high but the real problem is that in this country law officers take their weapons home and have still more private ones.

It's not wise for people in high stress jobs to have guns around.  Likewise for people with families, kids, a bit of a temper, human frailties in general or a respect for life.

Mandatory Gun Insurance would provide for victims, encourage safety and not be an excessive burden on gun owners. How to do it at Gun Insurance Blog. I also make posts at Huffington as Tom Harvey.

    •  Part of the stress on LEOs is the spread of guns. (1+ / 0-)

With the spread of assault-rifles, handguns with high-capacity magazines, and an ideology that says citizens should carry as much lethal weaponry as police, many police officers don't know if they will encounter deadly force on any given day (and be prepared to dish it out). Common sense suggests this adds to their stress, and adds to cases of inappropriate use of force. (Which is not to excuse the latter, at all, merely to help understand just one of the causes of it, among others.)
