  •  Our cribnotes version of or story with him: (0+ / 0-)

Our son, whom he delivered, is now 18 years old. We were 22 at the time, and obviously very inexperienced, just out of college and in grad school.

He was a bit overbearing and a little condescending at times, but we didn't really notice it too much back then -- because we thought everyone was pretty much like that.

We were probably one of his last medicaid patients as well, IIRC, so I'm sure he looked down on us for that as well.

The delivery day was what really made us irate. He was delivering another baby(ies) that same night, so he made us switch from our hospital of choice to have it, rather than have his partner deliver (unless his partner had already run away from him at that point, my memory is fuzzy on that).

He had already delivered the other(s) when he whirled into our room, pulled out the suction cup not 2 minutes after he got there and basically yanked our son out, cutting as he needed (not as my wife needed). He was gone within 15 minutes, and never even spoke to us except a quick "congratulations."

He seemed genuinely pissed to be there, even though we were right on our due date. The after-appointment was just as short/curt and we never even thought about considering him again.

We went with a midwife for child #2 several years later and the experience was 180 degrees different.

He was just a complete jackass, and looking back after the experience with our 2nd, we saw how really bad he was at dealing with us.

There is no "path" to choose. The path is what is behind you that led you to today. What lies in front of you is not a fork in the road - a choice of paths to take, but rather an empty field for you to blaze your own direction.
