I consulted in my younger years (from age 20 through about age 35) who wasn't seriously creepy.  I changed docs more than a few times hoping to find someone who didn't either give me the heebie-jeebies or tell me that a problem was all only in my head.
To say nothing of the doctor who told my mother-in-law, about to have a total hysterectomy for suspected ovarian cancer, that it was good she was post-menopausal because she didn't need "those parts" anymore anyway.
Or my childhood friend's OB-GYN husband who abused her and their children in seriously sadistic ways.
And the guy who was a partner in the same practice as my female gynecologist who was convicted of being a sexual predator.
I now consult only female docs.
It would take a lot now to stop me from questioning the power and control issues of men interested in lady parts so much they'd choose that particular specialty.

I'm coming onto this thread late but I have always thought it was a very strange, patronizing and creepy specialty for a male to choose.  There have been some women throughout my  life who have called me the weirdo because I feel this way, but they were no doubt Marabel Morgan types (remember her, anybody?  The Total Woman?  But I digress).  At least a woman OB/GYN is going to know what cramps feel like.
