  •  You were very well paid! (13+ / 0-)
What cost $5 in 1962 would cost $38.00 in 2013.

Minimum wage then was $1.15 (equal to $8.73 today)

You've blown me away with the statistics. Wow! Thanks for that link because I am sending it to my grandchildren. They don't know about  the period  while their grandfather went to law school.

I remember buying a candy bar and RC Cola for a dime. I noticed that a bar of candy was $1.25 at a convenience store last week.  I bought a soda and it was $1.25.

The summer I went away to university. I made $1.65 an hour working in the mail room in an insurance company. I moved to Dallas and living in a boarding house. $50.00 a month got me two good meals, a nice room, a swimming pool and my laundry done! 2 blocks off the bus route.

When I that temp job I was very grateful to the typing teacher that I couldn't stand in high school. He would stand behind me and it always annoyed me so I typed faster to get him to walk off. :) That is what got me that $5.00 an hour. We were RICH! We paid $.25 a day for parking.

If I wasn't Bob Dylan, I'd probably think that Bob Dylan has a lot of answers myself. Bob Dylan
