    For parents, the key issue is their children's safety. Who is more likely to keep children safe, the long-time drivers who are well-paid employees of the school district, and who know the children? Or low-wage and poorly supervised people hired by a private contractor?

    The only way privatization saves money is if they skimp on hiring and pay and supervision.

    This should make parents crowd into the school board hearings and demand to keep the long-time drivers.
